Summer Lodge Hotel
Our philosophy is to use the outstanding local and seasonal produce on our doorstep to create stunning menus to surprise and delight our guests. We add a world class sommelier to the mix to lend his expertise on our 1600 bin wine list as well as an extensive and impressive whisky and cognac selection to enjoy after your meal. All together it is a match made in heaven for lovers of fine food, fine wines, rare spirits and amazing service.
Summer Lodge nestles into the Dorset landscape and is the perfect place to rediscover peace, tranquillity and calm. In an area made famous by Thomas Hardy’s novels, a part of the hotel was in fact designed by Hardy himself; West Dorset is picture perfect rural England. Rolling hills, lush green fields, dramatic coastline and idyllic beaches make any visit to Dorset a memorable one.
With 25, individually decorated, suites and bedrooms Summer Lodge is a beacon of timeless style, elegance and luxury making it an oasis of calm in the modern world. Set within 4 acres of beautifully manicured gardens, the hotel also offers a heated indoor pool, spa and beauty treatments, a fully equipped gymnasium, bicycles, a croquet lawn, and an all-weather tennis court. There are plenty of private spaces within the hotel gardens, to simply unwind, practice yoga, or relax on one of the garden swings or sun-loungers, with a refreshing cool drink.
We place a huge emphasis on our cuisine and we are incredibly fortunate to have a world class chef as the leader of our kitchen team. Steven Titman has been at Summer Lodge for 16 years and his sensitive touch and respect for the abundance of outstanding local produce has resulted in menus that are both classic and innovative. Stevens cooking is complimented by our fantastic sommelier, Eric Zwiebel, who has also been with us for 16 years. His unrivalled knowledge, skill and ability to compliment the delicious food with an equally delicious wine is a thing of absolute beauty.
Service and customer care is at the heart of all that Summer Lodge stands for. From the smile son the faces of the reception team to the quiet and unobtrusive service in the restaurant to ensuring that our wonderful bedrooms are all perfect - taking care of our guests is our ultimate ambition.

Glorious Game aims to help increase the appeal of this hugely underappreciated but delicious, lean and nutritious meat. Inspired by her upbringing in the Angus Glens, and her Grandmother, who was a wonderful cook, Sophie has always been obsessed with food but is only too aware that not everyone shares her passion for game, which is often over-looked, or disliked for no good reason.
