Dowding's Apple Juice & Cider
Dowding’s Apple juice and Cider is run by Oliver Dowding who was born into a farming family in the village of Shepton Montague In Somerset where he’s lived all his life, and farms under organic standards.
Land that’s managed organically provides an ideal environment for wildlife, flora and fauna to thrive, and every effort is made to encourage public use of the footpaths that criss-cross the farm and the orchards.
In addition to using apples from the farm, Dowding’s make use of surplus local apples that wouldn’t otherwise be harvested. As a small business care can be taken to ensure that none of the apples harvested are ever sprayed or fertilised. Harvesting apples from other local places means that others can be involved (such as schools and community projects), as well as making use of the many traditional, and varied orchards that exist in an area often referred to as ‘apple and cider country’.
All of Dowding’s apples are harvested by hand. This improves quality control and provides employment for local people. Please explore this website to learn more about the things that are important to us and how our values run through everything that we do.
NFYFC is a rural youth organisation for those who have a love for agriculture and rural life. YFCs provide their members with opportunities to develop life skills, work with their local communities, have their voice heard, take part in a varied programme and provide a peer support and friendship network.
Glorious Game aims to help increase the appeal of this hugely underappreciated but delicious, lean and nutritious meat. Inspired by her upbringing in the Angus Glens, and her Grandmother, who was a wonderful cook, Sophie has always been obsessed with food but is only too aware that not everyone shares her passion for game, which is often over-looked, or disliked for no good reason.
