The Watercress Company
Watercress was brought here by the Romans, had a huge revival in Tudor times and from 1820s watercress farms were created to cultivate huge quantities of watercress all over the UK. The reason for its long popularity is due to its nutrient density; for thousands of years it’s been recognised as the most nutrient dense leafy green available. Grown on farms at the source of mineral rich spring water, watercress is produced by harnessing the minerals in the spring water & using sunlight to produce many crops a year of this luscious leaf that tastes peppery and contains over 50 minerals and vitamins
The Watercress Company has been passionately growing watercress since 1894 in Dorset & Hampshire.
We are committed sustainable farming and delivering nutrient rich crops to all our markets.
As specialists in niche crops we ensure that the finest quality watercress is harvested daily by highly trained staff.
Watercress is one of the healthiest crops you can get and a true powerhouse of nutrition. High in Vitamin C, Vitamin K and Vitamin A; it boosts immunity, is great for blood health and fantastic for your skin and eyes. It’s also a source of Iron, Calcium and Folate. Due to its unique peppery flavour and highly regarded health attributes, watercress is a fantastic ingredient and used as a herb in pestos, great in salads and teams up with citrus really well. It can also be used as a vegetable in stir fries, soups and sauces.
Over the last 12 months we have become industry pioneers with a market first of plastic-free watercress bunches; Traditional watercress bunches hand selected & harvested and wrapped in protective plant waxed paper to deliver a sustainable and exciting format that is available nationally through Ocado.
Our leaves are either harvested by hand or by using specialist equipment and then packed on site for national distribution to restaurants and hotels or shipped to businesses that wash and prepare for most of the major retailers. You can find watercress in most supermarkets in the salad aisle. We supply a growing number of national distributors and food manufacturers with watercress along with baby leaf salads and fresh wasabi in a range of sized packs.
We are part of a watercress research team that is discovering compounds in watercress that are beneficial to companies who produce cosmetics, drinks, and other health and wellbeing products.

Glorious Game aims to help increase the appeal of this hugely underappreciated but delicious, lean and nutritious meat. Inspired by her upbringing in the Angus Glens, and her Grandmother, who was a wonderful cook, Sophie has always been obsessed with food but is only too aware that not everyone shares her passion for game, which is often over-looked, or disliked for no good reason.
