Producer of the month: June 2020

Dowdings

This month we take a closer look at Love British Food member Dowding’s Apple Juice & Cider, based in Wincanton, Somerset, with Oliver Dowding.

Dowdings began making a little cider in 2011, from a small orchard planted 15 years before then. Each year they have made a little more! They now use their own organic apples plus some unsprayed fruit from local gardens and orchards which otherwise have no user. They make wonderful apple juice, a low-alcohol juice, and lots of lovely cider. These come as either still (5L, 10L or 20L bag-in-box, or in 3L pouches) or in 500ml bottles (carbonated). All is either dry or medium cider. We offer free local delivery or by courier for longer distance.

Why do you do what you do?

Because I love creating great juice and cider. Blessed to be in Somerset and have a wonderful orchard and place to work, with many great local customers – and now farther afield, its been a great diversification from farming
