BonCulina UK Joins Love British Food as Official Partner in Support of British Farmers
Colchester, September 2024
BonCulina UK, a leader in food manufacturing and catering services, is proud to announce its partnership with Love British Food as an official supporter during British Food Fortnight. This collaboration highlights BonCulina UK’s commitment to supporting British farmers, growers, and the use of sustainable, high-quality, homegrown ingredients across its services, particularly in the healthcare sector.
Alexia Robinson, Founder & CEO of Love British Food, welcomed the partnership, “We are delighted that BonCulina is joining Love British Food as an Official Partner. Their decision to join during this year’s British Food Fortnight, the national food celebration, is a terrific indication of support for British food from one of the leading foodservice operators in the UK. Working with their healthcare business will enhance significantly the work we do with the NHS, promoting quality, nutritious, sustainably produced British food as key to enabling positive patient outcomes. Thirty hospitals are taking part in British Food Fortnight; BonCulina brings a further 120 NHS sites into our activities. This is the reach we have long sought to achieve Love British Food’s objectives in the NHS. We look forward to them joining our Hospital Working Group and our partnership going forward."
Andy Jones, Director & Head of Service Development at BonCulina UK, added, “As a proud founding ambassador of Love British Food, and coming from a farming background, I have always felt strongly about supporting British farmers and showcasing the amazing quality of food that our growers and producers offer. With this partnership, we reinforce our mission to provide the very best meals to those we serve in the public sector - patients, the elderly, children, and staff. By incorporating British produce, we ensure that our foodservice menus not only taste great but also align with our sustainability goals.”
BonCulina UK’s commitment to British agriculture is already reflected in its sourcing. The company is proud to buy British beef, venison, pork, potatoes, milk, cheese, cream, eggs, fruits and vegetables - supporting the nation's farms. These ingredients form the backbone of its offerings to public sectors, including NHS hospitals, where quality and nutrition are key to patient recovery and well-being.
BonCulina UK’s efforts are not just limited to providing high-quality meals; they extend to driving change at the highest levels. Jones continued, "I’ve always believed that a chef's role is not just about cooking - it’s about educating others about food. Our partnership with Love British Food allows us to explore seasonal British produce in our menus and build closer connections with farmers. Additionally, my work to push for mandated use of British food on public sector menus continues, and I remain committed to advocating for the implementation of the National Food Strategy and Government Buying Standards.”
With the ethos of 'For Patients, By Patients,' BonCulina UK remains focused on sustainability, working to reduce its carbon footprint and promote environmentally responsible practices across its operations. By using locally sourced British produce, BonCulina is contributing to the health of its customers and the planet, while also strengthening the local food economy.
