Play @ Lower Drayton Farm
Lower Drayton Farm near Penkridge in Staffordshire is home to the Midlands newest farm attraction, PLAY@Lower Drayton Farm.
Lower Drayton Farm is a 750 acre working farm, proud to produce its own grass fed, home bred Aberdeen Angus beef cattle; wheat for cereals, bread, biscuits and animal feed. Farmer Ray and his son Richard also work with other farmers to grow parsnips and potatoes on the farm.
Agriculture is at the heart of the PLAY@ concept – all the play equipment is inspired by the farm and its animals, and educating the public about the ‘farm to fork’ journey is particularly important – with the legendary farm trailer rides (weather dependent) offering visitors an insight into life on a working farm.
The family is also proud to sell produce from their fields in the new Honeypots café, named after an ancient woodland on the farm. Visitors can tuck into Aberdeen Angus beef and home bred lamb burgers - with a focus on sustainable, local British traceable, fresh food you can’t get much more local than food from the farm you’re visiting!
When we first talked about setting up a family business, we knew instantly it should revolve around our passion for great food, shared experiences and love of gift giving.
And so in 2014, from a barn in Lincolnshire, The British Hamper Company was born.
Whilst we may have outgrown the humble barn, our simple mission remains at our core:
Connecting and delighting loved ones through unforgettable gifting experiences, containing thoughtfully curated produce from Britain’s best artisan makers.
The festival takes place 27-29 May this year, over the three days of the bank holiday. With 25,000 people attending last year it made this the largest outdoor food festival. There are 150 stalls with food and drink produce and the focus is on local, artisanal, authentic product.
Passionate about our hens and the eggs they kindly produce, we are a young, progressive family business. Taking a very hands-on approach, we are the third generation of Fairburns to produce eggs. As a business, we have the drive to care and the technology to deliver. We are in control of everything we put in and every egg we send out, ensuring the finest quality and the freshest egg.
