Play @ Lower Drayton Farm
Lower Drayton Farm near Penkridge in Staffordshire is 750 acre working farm, proud to produce its own grass fed, home bred Aberdeen Angus beef cattle; wheat for cereals, bread, biscuits and animal feed. Farmer Ray and his son Richard also work with other farmers to grow parsnips and potatoes on the farm.
But farming is not all that happens down on this farm – it is home to the Midlands’ newest farm attraction, PLAY@ Lower Drayton Farm, launched in August 2020.
Agriculture is at the heart of the PLAY@ concept – all the play equipment is inspired by the farm and its animals, and educating the public about the ‘farm to fork’ journey is particularly important – with the legendary farm trailer rides (weather dependent) offering visitors an insight into life on a working farm.
The family is also proud to sell produce from their fields in the new Honeypots café, named after an ancient woodland on the farm. Visitors can tuck into Aberdeen Angus beef and home bred lamb burgers - with a focus on sustainable, local British traceable, fresh food you can’t get much more local than food from the farm you’re visiting!
