Nr Tewkesbury
This was our first farm visit and the inaugural meeting of the Love British Food Hospitals Working Group.
Overbury is a large arable farm near Tewkesbury.
We were hosted by Penelope Bossom, owner of Overbury Farms, and Jake Freestone, Farm Manager
We had a tour of the farm learning about their regenerative agriculture system of farming that puts the soil at the centre of how they farm. This
involves direct drilling all of their own crops, covering the fields with living plants and roots at all times, growing a more diverse range of crops and rotating the sheep around the farm.
Jake has been awarded the Farmers Weekly Environmental Champion, the British Farming Awards Arable Innovator of the Year and Soil Farmer of the Year so it was a brilliant opportunity to hear from one of farming’s leading experts in farming in harmony with the environment.
We then had a delicious working lunch in the farm offices discussing the aims of our new working group.
Amanda Roberts from Hospital and Food Service magazine attended the visit and wrote a super article about it all. You can read it here:
