Tractor Ted

This year British Food Fortnight has teamed up with Tractor Ted, the character behind the real life action farming films and books, to challenge young children to shake up school milk during this year’s national food promotion which runs from 18 September to 3 October 2010. Children's TV presenter, Michaela Strachan, is heading the panel of judges for the competition, which is open to all UK pre and primary school-age children. British Food Fortnight's Tractor Ted Challenge for Pre and Primary Schools – Shake up the school smoothie!

Welcome to the ninth British Food Fortnight when schools are again being invited to teach children about the diverse and delicious range of food available, the pleasures and health benefits of eating quality, fresh, seasonal and regionally-distinct produce and where it comes from.

This year British Food Fortnight has teamed up with Tractor Ted, the character behind the real life action farming films and books, to challenge young children to shake up school milk during this year's national food promotion which runs from 18 September to 3 October 2010.

Children's TV Presenter, Michaela Strachan, is leading the panel of judges for the competition.

Use the event to make sure that food stays on the curriculum in your school. It is the best way to guarantee the healthy well-being of your pupils!

This year's Challenge is to let your pupils' imagination run wild and add some smoothie sensation to your school milk. We challenge you to design the ultimate school smoothie! Think seasonal, think local, think healthy, think yummy! See our teaching resources below for ideas.

All entries will receive a FREE Tractor Ted goes milking DVD with teacher notes worth £12.99* – a real life film showing where good healthy milk comes from and what milk is used for; a fun and factual treat for Early Years and Foundation Stage children.

How to Enter

  • To enter use this link to the Tractor Ted Challenge online entry form

  • Entries sent via post or fax may be discarded.

  • An email address must be attached to the entry form so applicants can be sent an activation code to download their free DVD of Tractor Ted goes milking.   • If your entry form and pictures are more than a 1MB file then please send photographs separately on a CD in the post to British Food Fortnight, PO BOX 16141, London, SE11 4ZH. Please note that CDs can not be returned.

  • Only one entry will be accepted per school.

  • By contributing your work to British Food Fortnight you agree to grant us the right to publish and use the material in all media for all purposes in connection with the competition.

  • Any photographic imagery attached to your entry is a declaration of parental permission and allows British Food Fortnight the right to use them for media purposes in the future.  Please note that photographs submitted with your entry cannot be returned.
