Indulge in British food! Seek out in-season fruits and vegetables, quality British meat and some of our country’s fabulous cheeses and dairy produce when you are out shopping and use these to create delicious meals at home. What about trying some of our most traditional dishes, such as Shepherd’s Pie or Apple Crumble, and giving them a modern twist?!
If you have children, consider involving them in the preparation of the meal – British Food Fortnight is a great opportunity to teach them a few cooking skills as well as an appreciation of the pleasures and health benefits of eating good food.

Grilled Devilled Partridge |

Serves: 2
Prep time: 10 mins
Cooking time:15 mins
Ingredients
2 partridge (spatchcocked)
2 tbsp English mustad
1 good pinch cayenne pepper
1 good pinch paprika
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Juice or half a lime
4 tbsp fresh white breadcrumbs
2 tsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
Salt and pepper
Melted butter
Method
- Turn on your grill.
- Mix all the ingredients other than the breadcrumbs and parsley together and set aside.
- Skewer the partridge open so they lay flat and brush liberally with melted butter, season.
- Grill for approx five minutes either side.
- Remove from grill and brush with the mixture on both sides of the partridge, grill for a further 5 minutes each side while basting.
- Finally, sprinkle top with breadcrumbs and grill until brown.
- Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve with a watercress salad and new potatoes.
